Foxconn to Move Desktop PC, Monitor Productions to Wuhan in 2011

Taiwanese Foxconn plans to migrate its production base for Acer's desktop PCs and monitors from Shenzhen to Wuhan, China next year, according to a September 14, 2010 report by the Economic Daily News of Taiwan. It is reported that the production base will be moved to the Wuhan Industrial Park of Foxconn, and the number of workers to be recruited is expected to be approximately 100,000. The production base in Wuhan is projected to be used for system assembly. Four companies have already been established by Foxconn in Wuhan, and the companies' have started the productions of digital cameras, PC shells, and PC motherboards. Production value of the four units totaled 7.3 billion RMB (US$108.3 million, US$1=6.74 RMB) in 2009.

Situated in central China, it is reported that by 2011, Wuhan will have production lines for four global desktop PC manufacturers, HP, Dell, Acer, and Lenovo.
